Pentecost 12 - Contemporary
Jesus’ responses to the unexpected faith of a Canaanite woman causes tension in Matthew 15:21-28. What do we learn about God? He doesn’t care about what’s on the outside, but the heart and faith on the inside. His grace is for all people. As broken sinners who are unworthy of God’s grace, we repent and run to Jesus crying, “Lord, have mercy.” In response, Jesus gives more than just a crumb but lays down His life so that we may have the grace we need for eternal life.
