Joseph’s brothers expect retaliation because they know exactly what they deserve. The brother they betrayed now holds their lives in his hands. Yet Joseph uses his authority not to destroy them but to preserve them. His mercy anticipates an even greater Brother—Jesus—who was betrayed, sold, rejected, and crucified, yet rose in power to forgive and to provide us with eternal life.
