We live in a performance-driven world: grades, stats, résumés, assets, achievement. It’s easy to drag this mindset into our relationship with God. But Romans 4 draws a clear line between performance and promise. Abraham didn’t inherit God’s blessing by spiritual hustle; he received it by trusting God’s promise. Today, we cancel the subscription to performance-based faith and rest in the promises of God fulfilled in Jesus Christ alone.
