Epiphany 4

“I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God; for I was sent for this purpose.” As you hear the reading from Luke today, see the many different ways that Jesus preached the good news of the kingdom of God. He cast out demons. He healed the sick. And he spoke words of good news. And not long after, Jesus entered Jerusalem as the crowds hailed him as king. But this king didn’t come to sit on a throne, but to be enthroned upon a cross, sacrificing himself for those he loved. This is God’s Kingdom come to his people in the world, the reconciliation of heaven and earth, which is certainly good news.
